Jackass loses political job after tweeting Sandy-related rumors

ComfortablySmug looks like a poor choice for a screen name, especially after Twitter posts from that account cost a New York man his job. Shashank Tripathi, who had been campaign manager for Christopher Wight, a Republican running for Congress in New York City, wrote several deliberately false tweets about Hurricane Sandy on Monday night, including the rumor that the floor of the New York Stock Exchange had been flooded. The 29-year-old also posted "news" about power cuts and subway closures. After being outed, he offered his resignation from Wight's campaign and apologized for his "irresponsible" tweet.
